MIY Outdoor products are designed to enhance outdoor living by providing shade and comfort. We stand behind our products and workmanship under normal residential use and correct operation.
This warranty covers faulty parts and materials and (where applicable) installation workmanship, subject to the conditions below.
What’s Covered
MIY Outdoor will, at its discretion:
- Repair or replace parts that are deemed faulty due to manufacturing defect, or
- Supply replacement components (including freight where applicable), or
- Arrange repair where MIY Outdoor determines it is required.
Workmanship coverage (installation):
If your product was installed by MIY Outdoor or an MIY-approved installer, workmanship is covered for the period stated under the relevant product category.
What’s Not Covered (common exclusions)
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage from misuse, neglect, incorrect operation, or use outside intended design
- Damage caused by high winds, gusting winds, storms, cyclones, hail, flood, lightning, fire, falling objects or other “acts of nature”
- Improper installation (including DIY or non-approved installers) that causes failure or damage
- General wear and tear, fading/appearance changes over time, or damage due to poor maintenance/cleaning
- Corrosion or deterioration due to harsh environments when cleaning schedules aren’t followed (coastal/marine/industrial areas)
MIY Outdoor will determine whether a product has been used and maintained correctly based on evidence provided and inspection outcomes.
Important Wind & Weather Warning
Our blinds and awnings are primarily designed for sun protection and may assist with light rain. They are not designed to withstand high winds or extreme weather. Leaving products deployed in these conditions may void warranty.
Depending on your location and claim type, warranty service may be handled by remote troubleshooting + parts shipped Australia wide and/or a local technician/installer arranged by MIY Outdoor, where required.
Product Warranty Periods & Care
Mesh Blinds (Heavy Duty / Crank / Wire Guide / Slide-Track / Archline)
Warranty Period:
- 5 years on parts and mesh fabric (manufacturing faults)
- 5 years workmanship (MIY/approved installer only)
Care & Operating Guidelines:
- Do not over-tighten; excessive tension can damage gearboxes and stretch fabric
- Do not leave blinds down when away from home or during forecast severe weather
- Do not over-tighten straps; strap replacements are chargeable
- Extra care with Slide-Track / Wire-Guide systems – do not leave deployed in extreme weather
- Clean fabric with warm soapy water or appropriate mesh cleaning agents
- Keep channels/tracks, gearboxes, locking rails and guides free from dirt and dust
- For Slide-Track systems, apply a light lubricant to tracks/locking pins every 6 months
- Minor creasing/movement can occur with some track/zip-style systems and is not necessarily a fault
PVC Blinds (including PVC Slide-Track / Zip-style systems)
Warranty period:
- 2 years on PVC material (manufacturing faults)
- 5 years on all other parts
- 5 years workmanship (MIY/approved installer only)
Care & Operating Guidelines:
- After installation, leave blinds down for 48 hours to reduce early creasing/staining risk
- If rolled up for about 1 week, put down for 48 hours to help prevent permanent creasing
- Clean regularly using mild, non-solvent detergent and water
- Do not over-tighten or leave down under high tension for long periods
- Do not leave deployed when away or during severe weather
- Keep tracks/channels and locking points clean; lubricate Slide-Track locking pins/tracks every 6 months
Awnings
Warranty period:

Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
