The brief
A landmark Northbridge bar with an open-air courtyard that emptied out every winter and capped the venue's function business. The brief was to keep the outdoor character, add a weatherproof room, and turn winter takings into year-round takings.
The solution
A Retractable Roof System over the full courtyard gives Universal a covered function room it did not have before, without giving up the open-air feel that built the brand. Fully waterproof when closed, open to the sky when the weather permits, with integrated guttering for a busy CBD-fringe site.
